The tenth edition of the French Throwdown had just finished and the athletes were already looking ahead to the city of Madison, in the United States. From 1 to 6 August, the capital of Wisconsin will host the CrossFit® Games.
The Games, as the event is known, is the biggest and most popular CrossFit® competition in the world, bringing together the best athletes on the planet and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Among the 40 women who qualified, we are proud to count Manon Angonèse, Northern Spirit athlete.
"White Shark" secured her ticket to the Games at the beginning of June during the semi-finals in Berlin, Germany. The image is still vivid in our minds: decked out in the Belgian flag, Manon couldn't hold back her tears of emotion when the speaker called her name and announced her score, synonymous with qualification. Tears that betrayed all the training sessions, all the sacrifices, all the doubts that punctuated Manon's daily life so that she could achieve the goal of her season.
A woman of few words, discreet, almost shy, Manon prefers to express herself through effort and performance. Every year, she continues to progress and impress us. In cross-training, of course, but also in weightlifting, her other favourite discipline, with a 14th place at the World Championships in 2021 and a 7th place at the European Championships in 2022.
Northern Spirit is extremely proud to see its athlete at such a high level. In any case, we'll be at Manon Angonèse's side in Madison, cheering her on, supporting her and telling ourselves that anything is possible.
